EDEM School of Entrepreneurs, the prestigious educational institution driven by Mercadona president Juan Roig and a fundamental pillar of the Marina de Empresas entrepreneurial ecosystem, has announced an ambitious investment of 1.5 million euros entirely dedicated to its scholarship program for the current academic year. This strategic initiative reinforces the school's founding commitment to identifying, attracting, and developing young talent, ensuring that financial constraints do not pose an insurmountable obstacle to access first-rate business training.
According to the official figures provided by the institution, the magnitude of this program allows one in every three students enrolled in its degree programs to have some form of financial aid this year. This translates into a total of 200 beneficiaries, a record figure that underscores the school's social vocation. The central objective is to democratize access to its classrooms and prepare future leaders and managers for the complex challenges of the global job market from the very beginning of their university careers.
EDEM’s aid system is structured mainly into two large modalities tailored to different profiles: the Foundation Scholarship and the Excellence Scholarship. The Foundation Scholarship is specifically designed to support those students who show high potential and an entrepreneurial vocation but whose family socioeconomic circumstances make it difficult to bear the cost of training. The Excellence Scholarship, for its part, aims to reward extraordinary effort and the most outstanding academic records, thereby promoting a merit and personal improvement culture that defines the institution’s DNA. Depending on the modality and the applicant’s profile, the aid can range from partial coverage of tuition to full tuition waivers.
Hortensia Roig, president of EDEM, has highlighted the transformative impact of these measures, stating that “a scholarship can radically change a person’s future.” The administration has recalled that EDEM, as a non-profit foundation, has accumulated more than two decades of experience in awarding scholarships to students, with the firm conviction that talent, effort, and a positive attitude deserve to find real opportunities for growth, regardless of the resources available.
To illustrate the success of this model, the institution points to cases such as Víctor Ketterer Molina, a fourth-year student in the Degree in Business Administration and Management (ADE). After completing his Vocational Training studies, Víctor was able to transition to university education at EDEM thanks to a Foundation Scholarship that covered 100% of his academic costs. This aid has allowed him not only to train in an environment of excellence but also to undertake internships in various multinationals and gain international experiences that have enhanced his employability.
Located in the Marina de Valencia, EDEM is part of a unique entrepreneurship hub alongside the accelerator Lanzadera and the investment company Angels Capital. With this new endowment of 1.5 million euros, Juan Roig’s school consolidates itself as an essential engine for talent development and wealth creation in society, promoting practical education and deeply connected to the real needs of the business fabric.
